MS Outlook Express in an old version of Microsoft Outlook which only supports DBX file format. After updating MS Outlook Express you can’t view DBX file on updated Outlook. Manual Techniques to Convert DBX Files
The Manual is divided into two parts:-
- Outlook Express and MS Outlook are Installed on the same system.
- Import Emails in Windows live messenger from Outlook Express and then Export those emails to MS Outlook.
Let’s see how to apply the first manual method.
Outlook Express and MS Outlook Installed on the Same Computer System
- Open MS Outlook.
- Go to File Tab and Click on Import/Export
- Once the Import and Export Wizard opens, select Import internet and Mail option and click on Next.
- Select Outlook Express and the Outlook Import Tool will appear.
- Now, Select Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x or Windows mail and check the import-mailbox.
- Click on Next to continue.
- When all the emails get transferred from Outlook Express to Outlook mail then a confirmation message will appear on your screen stating completion of the conversion process.
- Now you can view and open the Outlook Express files on MS Outlook.
This method is only possible if both the applications are present on the same system. But if you have both the application on the same system then you can go with the second manual method or try the DBX file converter software.

Import Emails on Windows Live Messenger from Outlook Express
- Download and Open Windows Live Messenger.
- Click on the File tab and select Import Messages.
- Windows Live Mail Import screen will appear. Select the Program and browse it.
- Select MS Outlook Express and click on Next.
- Now, select the folder containing DBX files and Click on Next.
- After this, the Outlook Express emails will be imported to windows live messenger.
Now you can see all your emails on Windows Live Messenger. It is the time to export emails from Windows live messenger to MS Outlook.
Export Emails to MS Outlook from Windows Live Messenger
- Go to File tab and Click on Export Mails.
- Open Email Message tab and select Microsoft Exchange Click on Next.
- An export Messages dialogue box will appear. Check All Folders option for exporting every folder or check Selected Folder if you want to customize folders. Click on OK.
- Once the process completes you’ll receive a confirmation message. Click on OK
Finally, all your DBX files are exported to MS Outlook and are converted to PST format without using a DBX File Converter tool.

- The user must have enough Technical knowledge.
- No guarantee of 100% conversion.
- Internal items of emails like photos, headers attachments, etc. may get corrupted.
