How to Create an App Password for Your Zoho Account : Step-by-Step

App passwords are unique codes that help third-party tools or apps, such as the Zoho Mail Backup Tool, connect securely to your Zoho Mail account when Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is enabled. These passwords are used only when an app or device cannot log in through the normal Zoho sign-in option. To use an app password, ensure you have an active Zoho Mail account with two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. App passwords are mainly required for older apps or email clients such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or backup tools that do not support direct Zoho login.

Step-1

Firstly, click https://accounts.zoho.com and open it on your system.

Step-2

Then, enter your Zoho Email Address and click Next.

Step-3

Now, enter your Zoho Email Password to Sign In. You can also Sign In using Email OTP.

Step-4

Go to Your Profile and choose the Security tab from the left panel.

Step-5

Select App Password and click on the Generate New App Password.

Step-6

After that, enter a name for the app — for example, Zoho Mail.

Step-7

Click Generate to create the app password.

Step-8

A 16-character app password will appear. Copy it carefully — you’ll need it in the next step.
