Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is an internet service protocol. The main characteristic of this email protocol is that all your emails will get saved on the service provider’s server. Using this Internet protocol, you can access your emails whether you are at home or the office. Therefore, you can easily manage your emails over the internet. To use the service on Gmail, you need to enable IMAP in Gmail. It will provide you all the benefits of this internet protocol.
As MS Outlook uses the IMAP server, you need to enable the IMAP settings in your Gmail account to add it to Outlook. Now, follow the instructions to activate the IMAP.
Step 1: First, sign in to your Gmail account.
Step 2: Now, click on the Gear icon (Settings) at the top right corner and then See all settings option to open all settings.
Step 3: After that, choose the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Step 4: Next, choose the Enable IMAP option in the IMAP Access section.
Step 5: At last, click on the Save Changes button to save the changes you made in your email account.
After performing the above steps, you need to make suitable changes in the Outlook application to add your email account. While adding your Gmail account, enter the following details to configure your email account in Outlook.

All these details are mandatory while configuring a Gmail account in the MS Outlook application. After adding your Gmail account to Outlook, you can check your Gmail mailbox through Outlook. Also, you can manage the Gmail folders.
